Information for Graduands

Congratulations on your upcoming CEMS MIM Graduation! We are looking forward to sharing in your special day in London.

Friday 8 December 2023

Pre-Graduation Party 

On Friday 8 December, LSE has organised a Pre-Graduation Party on our central London campus for graduands.

Hosted at LSE’s own nightclub - The Venue - and our Three Tuns student bar, enjoy unbeatable drink specials that will keep the party going all night long. Celebrate your achievements in style ahead of the big day!

Location:  Saw Swee Hock Student Centre
Time: 9.30pm – 2.00am

Your ticket price includes entry to the party, one (1) drink token (wine, beer or soft drink) and one (1) food token.
Please note that places are limited and are available on a first come, first served basis. Graduands may bring one (1) guest to this event.

Graduation Day Activities

Your graduation will take place at ICC Auditorium & Capital Hall at ExCel London.


Please note: Recommended Station is Custom House (15-minute walk to ICC auditorium). Follow signs and look for event stewards for signposting and assistance.

Travel to ExCeL
Please travel via Elizabeth Line, alight at Custom House Station, and follow the signs for ExCel (West). The ICC auditorium is a 15-minute walk from the station through ExCeL.
Due to unplanned engineering works, nearby DLR stations will be closed on Graduation Day.

Arrival & registration (12.00 noon) – mandatory for all graduands

  • On arrival, please follow signs to the registration desk, which is located in the ICC, Boulevard Level 0 (East entrance of ExCeL).
  • At the registration desk, present your registration confirmation QR code (electronic or printed copy).
  • Once registered, report to your Programme Manager at the area specifically allocated for your School.

All graduands attending the Graduation Ceremony must  arrive at 12.00 noon to attend the mandatory briefing and rehearsal. This is to ensure the ceremony runs smoothly. Every school has a WhatsApp group to support coordination during the day. Contact your Programme Manager for further details.

At registration, you will receive:
  • A red graduation stole to wear throughout the ceremony.
  • A wristband denoting which events you have registered for.
  • A special dietary requirement tickets, if information was provided at time of booking.

Subject to availability, tickets for the graduation party can be purchased by credit card at the registration desk. Tickets are not guaranteed on the day, and we recommend booking at your initial registration.


Rehearsal, briefing and lunch (12.30-1.30pm)

We will have a mandatory rehearsal of the ceremony, offering instruction on how to line up and proceed to the ceremony hall, your seating arrangement, and how to enter the stage and receive your diploma. It takes time to line up all the schools and graduands in the right sequence, so please be attentive and support your Programme Manager’s instructions.

Graduands will be organised by School with official speeches preceding, and following, the diploma distribution. 

You will be called onto the stage by your Programme Manager and will receive your diploma from one of the high academic officials representing the Schools of the CEMS Global Alliance.

Lunch 
Graduands will be provided with lunch and a ticket for specific dietary requirements, if provided at the time of booking.

Photo session (1.30-3.30pm)

All Programme Managers and event stewards are aware of the photo session schedule in advance. You will be informed and ushered to the photo session and its location accordingly. Please be aware of your Programme Manager’s location at all times.

Dress code for graduands

Smart formal, including:
  • Tuxedo, national costume, or a formal dark suit and tie
  • Long dress, smart suit, or a formal cocktail-length dress

You will be given a red graduation stole to wear during the ceremony. There will be no time for a change of clothes after rehearsal, so the dress code applies from arrival time at 12.00 noon.

Transportation

Transport to and from ExCeL London is the responsibility of the graduands and their guests.

Nearest Station: Custom House (Elizabeth line)

  • West Bound - Towards Reading and Heathrow
The last train is at 12.05am and the first train on Sunday morning is 7.05am.

  • East Bound - Towards Shenfield and Abbey Wood
The last train is at 12.20am and the first train on Sunday morning is 8.05am.

DLR line (Prince Regent DLR Station)
  • Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 December, no service between Canning Town and Beckton. Replacement buses operate.
Night buses 

Guest registration - Boulevard, Level 0 (2.30-4.30pm)

At the registration desk, please advise your guests to present their registration confirmation QR code (electronic or printed copy). 

Please encourage your guests to come with sufficient time to register and reach their seats. Your guests will be directed to the designated guest seating area.

At registration, your guests will receive:
  • A wristband denoting which events you have purchased
  • Special dietary requirement tickets, if advised at time of booking

Graduation Ceremony - ICC Auditorium (4.30-7.00pm)

The ceremony will start at  4.30pm promptly. Graduands should be ready to line up at 4.00pm. Please keep in mind the instructions from the rehearsal so that the ceremony can run smoothly.

On stage, you will receive a provisional congratulatory “diploma”. Your actual CEMS diploma and certificate will be sent to you by your Programme Manager in January 2024. 


Graduation Reception - ICC Capital Hall, Level 0 (7.00-8.30pm)

When the graduation ceremony is over, the academic officials will exit followed by the graduands and lastly, the guests.

Please join us in raising a glass to the graduating class.

Tempest Photography - Boulevard, Level 0 (7.00-8.30pm)

Tempest Photography will be offering a bespoke studio service for graduands and their guests. Photos will be available to purchase both on the day and post event.

Graduation Dinner - ICC Capital Suite, Level 3 (8.30-10.30pm)

The doors to the graduation dinner will open at 8.30pm to those with the appropriate wristbands. Please remember to place your special dietary requirement ticket on your plate.

Graduation Party - ICC Capital Hall, Level 0 (10.30-4.00am)

Doors to the party will open at 10.30pm to those with the appropriate wristbands.

Please keep track of both the official website and communications from your Programme Manager (emails & WhatsApp Group), for updated and regular information.

Please note that ExCel London is a cashless venue. All payments for drinks (and late night snacks, which will be available from midnight) will need to be paid by card.

Live streaming of the graduation

If you have family and friends who would like to watch the graduation ceremony from their homes, live streaming will be available on the official website from 4.00pm GMT on Saturday 9 December 2023.

Stay in contact

This year, you will be transferred to the CEMS Alumni platform, so we would appreciate having valid contact details for you. Ideally, you should change your forwarding email to a valid email not connected to your school account, which will disappear shortly after your graduation. Don’t miss out on important announcements from the CEMS Alumni network.
